Powell takes over from Sergio Sousa who the club would like to thank for his years of service.

"JP" returned to the valley earlier this year to take over the Stanislaus State program after a spell at Northwest Nazarene where he led them to the NCAA Division II Super Region Four Final (Elite Eight). JP will focus on the development of the clubs coaching and their coaching curriculum. 

Powell had this to say about his return, "I’m extremely blessed to be back in the Central Valley and to resume working with AC. It’s a club that prioritizes player development and community relationships and I’m excited to help in the DOC role. I’m looking forward to working with our talented coaches to better our players and club as a whole."
